Thanks to the hundreds of folks that came to see "Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective". With the addition of stage magic effects by Director Jacob Hatfield, kids and adults saw a wonderful show! Congrats to the cast and crew!
Many "Funny Things" Happened on the way to THIS Forum!
Thanks to all who worked very hard to make "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" a success. Here's a movie clip showing the entire cast during the opening number.
In case you don't have time to sit through an entire play...
The movie below is the curtain call for our 2007 family production, "Lend Me a Tenor". The entire play is performed in just over two minutes!
What's Going On Here?
Plenty! South County Players is a diverse group of men, women and children committed to bringing theater to the Vicksburg area. We have been active since 1995. We meet monthly, and currently produce two plays a year, as well as radio dramas, dinner/dessert theater, and educational opportunities for area children. This site is brand new, and under construction. If you are a member of our group, please feel free to email the webmaster with photos and stories that you would like to contribute. If you are visiting -- welcome!
Family-Friendly Adult Theater
Each summer we present one production featuring a predominantly adult cast. In 2005, we produced our first musical: "Forever Plaid". We followed that up in 2006 with the classic musical "Nunsense", and in 2007 we performed the Tony award-winning farce "Lend Me a Tenor".
In June 0f 2008, we performed "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".
Children's Productions
During the summer we involve children from school age to adolescence in a full production. In 2007, we presented "The Worst High School Play in the World".
In 2008, we wil present "Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective".
Dinner theater
In 2006, in cooperation with South County Community Services, we performed a murder mystery play called "Seance at the Pub ". In 2007, we performed "The Death of Dr. Pepper".
Other activities
Each year, in cooperation with local Girl Scout troops, we offer an interactive workshop on theater production. This covers everything from lighting, makeup, and set design to production, direction and acting.
We also offer a library play-reading day at the Vicksburg Community Library. This day-long activity exposes area school-age children to the joys of reading and theater.
