Come Play With Us!
Our 2010 shows have been cast!
Cast lists for our 2010 plays are now available on the Family Theater and Youth Theater pages.
Director Jim Thompson has also distibuted the rehearsal schedule for "Blithe Spirit".
Notes from Ethan Waldron, director of The Wind in the Willows: "If you accept this role, please attend the first cast meeting on May 5th at 4pm in the VHS Choir room. We will be doing a read through of the script. Also that night is the first Parent company meeting. This is VERY IMPORTANT!!!! It starts at 7pm. Tell your parents to be there. ALSO: if you auditioned, but were not cast, and would still like to be apart of the production as a crew member, come to the 7pm parent company meeting.
What's Going On Here?
Plenty! South County Players is a diverse group of men, women and children committed to bringing theater to the Vicksburg area. We have been active since 1995. We meet monthly, and currently produce two plays a year, as well as radio dramas, dinner/dessert theater, and educational opportunities for area children. If you are a member of our group, please feel free to email the webmaster with photos and stories that you would like to contribute. If you are visiting -- welcome!
Family-Friendly Adult Theater
Each summer we present one production featuring a predominantly adult cast. In June 0f 2008, we performed "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (picture at right). For 2009 we performed "Robert Fulghum's All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergerten".
For 2010, we are planning to stage the classic play "Blithe Spirit".
Children's Productions
During the summer we involve children from school age to adolescence in a full production. In 2008, we presented "Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective". For 2009 we performed "The Wizard of Wobbling Rock".
For 2010, we are planning to perform "The Wind in the Willows".
Dinner theater
In 2006, in cooperation with South County Community Services, we performed a murder mystery play called "Seance at the Pub ". In 2007, we performed "The Death of Dr. Pepper".
For 2009 we performed "Some Show About a Murder" at Indian Run Golf Course Clubhouse.
Other activities
We have performed a radio version of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" in the past, and are planning other radio plahys in the future.
In the past, we have performed theater workshops in conjunction with local Girl Scout troops, and children's theater workshops in the Vicksburg Public Library. Watch this space for future activities as they are announced.
